One of the blogs I really like,
Wonderduck's Pond1. If you’d like to play along, reply to this post and I’ll assign you a letter.
2. You then list (and upload or link to the video, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Then, as I’m doing here, you’ll post the list to your journal with the instructions.Since I can't resist a good meme, I jumped in, and was assigned the letter D (for delurk). Thusly, my five "D" songs are...
Old 97's -
Dance With MeI never watched Battlestar Galactica, but I think we can all apreciate the feeling of wanting to just take on waves and waves of faceless goons, beat the ever-loving snot out of them, surf one of them down the stairs, and get the girl in the end.
Boom Boom Satellites -
DrainWhile they probably are best known in the west for providing the opening theme to Xam'd: Forgotten Memories, Boom Boom Satellites have been around a surprisingly long time and have done alot of interesting stuff. Like, for example, this very song which came off of their latest album released earlier this year.
The Postal Service -
The District Sleeps Alone TonightThe Postal Service was a clean-shaven Ben Gibbard doing Ben Gibbard-like stuff with an electronica feel. Such Great Heights is the better song, but I do like this one as well. Will there ever be another Postal Service album, and if there is, will fans regret wishing for it?
DJ Z-Trip -
Doin' It Like This (feat. Clutch)I first heard of Z-Trip when he and Linkin Park's Chester Bennington collaborated on "Walking Dead." (Is there a band that has aged as poorly as Linkin Park? That might just be my opinion though. I suppose going through puberty and graduating middle school will do that.) I heard it, thought it merely okay, and moved on. The next time I heard of Z-Trip was when he did the soundtrack to the highly-underrated video game All-Pro Football 2K8. Prolonged exposure to the game and it's menu screens gave me a bit of an appreciation for the man, and a love of this song in particular. Clutch, by the way, is out of Maryland. This track samples their "Profits of Doom." Get the pun?
Bôa -
DuvetThis is, of course, the theme song to Serial Experiment Lain. Bôa is unique in being a English band who's primary focus has been Japan. I understand that they were signed by a Japanese record label, but that doesn't explain the why. A fantastic song though.
If interested in playing along, volunteer and I'll give you a letter.
